The PARC Drone Can Fly Non-Stop Forever

parc droneThe thing with drones is that they need to be recharged. This means that you need to take battery life into consideration when you’re out flying. After all you don’t want it to go too far and not have enough juice to make it back onto the ground safely and in one piece, right? The good news is that if you wanted a drone without the hassle of battery life, you’re in luck.

A company by the name of CyPhy Works has recently launched the Persistent Aerial Reconnaissance and Communications (PARC) drone. Actually the PARC drone isn’t new. The company had previously manufactured a version for the military who has been using it for a while now, but with the company successfully raising enough money in a new investment round, they have decided to commercialize it.

So how does the drone work? Basically it is tethered to a power source via a microfilament attachment. This allows the drone to transmit both power and data, thus allowing it to stay in the sky for as long as you want. There is also a built-in battery just in case the line snaps. However the downside is that your range is limited due to the fact that it is tethered.

However if you want a drone that can perform reconnaissance work, like maybe keep an eye on your home from above, then this might be the drone for you. However like we said the fact that it is tethered does limit its use, but if you are interested then head on over to CyPhy’s website for the details on when the drone will be available, and how much it will cost.
