Samsung Now Shipping Note 5 Units With Directions On Inserting S-Pen

Never before has Samsung ever used a push to eject mechanism for the Galaxy Note’s S Pen. All previous handsets used to have a groove that was just big enough to pry out the stylus using the nail or the tip of the finger. It’s much easier in the Galaxy Note 5 since you just have to push the stylus in for it to eject. This design change also revealed a flaw, one could insert the S Pen in backwards and then it would get stuck. Prying it out would damage the mechanism. Samsung is now shipping Galaxy Note 5 units with instructions explaining the proper way to store the S Pen.

I’m sure not a lot of people will insert the S Pen in backwards just to see what happens, particularly if they are aware that this can cause damage to the mechanism, but there are scenarios in which one can mistakenly insert the stylus the other way around.

A new unboxing video uploaded on YouTube shows that Galaxy Note 5 units are now shipping with a warning label on the display itself which details the correct way to insert the S Pen. The warning reads: “Be sure to insert your S Pen with the nib pointed inward. Inserting the S Pen the wrong way can cause it to become stuck and can damage the pen and your phone.”

Obviously one can never rule out the possibility of mindlessly inserting the S Pen the wrong way, this warning can only do so much, at the end it really does come down to the user, and they’re mostly well aware of how to properly insert the S Pen.
