Microsoft Halts Lumia 950 Update

Lumia_950_1Well, well, what do we have here? Apparently, the very first Windows 10 update that Microsoft published for their two flagship smartphones, namely the Lumia 950 and the Lumia 950 XL, has been taken down not too long right after its roll out. I suppose there is wisdom in going through carrier testing then, as the update happened to be the first one that bypassed carrier testing. Basically, it was installation issues that forced Microsoft’s hand in the matter, where the Windows 10 Mobile team then decided to take the update down and fix it before offering it to the masses again.

The Microsoft Answers forum saw a moderator offer an explanation to users, citing that they ought to ignore low storage notifications, and if pending OS or app updates are present, to ensure that the handset remains plugged so that it has a full battery as it “works through those items.”

We also found out that the offending update is known as 10586.29, where some users even had to go through the extent of resetting their devices so that these handsets could be of use again. So far, the situation remains rather blurry as to when Microsoft intends to fix the update and launch it once again.
