Second Speaker Could Replace Headphone Port In iPhone 7 [Rumor]

iPhone6s-2Up-HeroFish-PR-PRINTThe rumors about Apple ditching the headphone port in the iPhone 7 is starting to gain a fair bit of traction. In fact just today we heard that Apple will bundle Lightning Earpods with the iPhone 7, as opposed to wireless Earpods which admittedly would have been much preferred. Now here comes a rather interesting rumor.

According to Barclays analysts Blayne Curtis and Christopher Hemmelgarn, they have suggested that in place of the headphone port, Apple will introduce a second speaker. As it stands, the microphone, speaker, headphone port, and Lightning port are all located at the bottom of the iPhone.

By removing the headphone port, it would certainly allow for Apple to insert another speaker and possible create some kind of stereo effect. It probably won’t be as good directionally since they would both be placed at the bottom, but it would potentially allow for slightly louder audio levels.

The report goes on to add that the second amp will be built by Cirrus Logic, the same company that will supposedly provide the noise-cancelling technology for future wireless Earpods. This is the first time we are hearing about this and no doubt this would be a rather interesting addition. Is it true? We suppose that remains to be seen, but until then take it with a grain of salt for now.
