DJI Unveils The Matrice 600 & Ronin-MX Drones

If you’re in the market for some new drones, you might be interested to learn that DJI has recently announced two new drones. The DJI Matrice 600 (M600) and the Ronin-MX, although given their price tags it would seem that these drones are aimed more towards professional users and videographers rather than your average drone hobbyist.

Starting with the M600, this is DJI’s most powerful drone yet. It is capable of streaming Full HD video at 60fps from a distance of up to 3 miles. It has a new flight controller, three new GPS units, and three IMUs that will pretty much allow users to repeat specific flight paths with centimeter precision, so if you’re looking to create a shot several times over, this will come in handy.

Unfortunately due to its features, the M600 does not come cheap and is priced at $4,599, so like we said it is definitely aimed at more professional users. DJI imagines that the M600 can be used for high-risk work, such as inspecting offshore oil rigs, for example. Next is the Ronin-MX which is considerably cheaper, but still expensive for the hobbyist.

The Ronin-MX is priced at $1,599 and will sport a universal aerial gimbal. What does this mean? Basically it means that users won’t be limited to the type of camera that they can attach to the drone as long as it is within the drone’s weight capabilities. The gimbal can rotate 360-degrees and will play nicely with cameras from Black Magic, Canon, Panasonic, RED, Sony, Nikon, and more.
