iPhone 7 Could Feature The iPad Pro’s Smart Connector

Apple-iPad-Pro-24One of the new hardware features that Apple introduced with the iPad Pro is the Smart Connector. While previously Apple allowed users to connect accessories and peripherals to their iPads and iPhones using Bluetooth or Lightning, the Smart Connector introduced a new way of connectivity.

Now according to a report from Mac Otakara (via iMore), it seems that the upcoming iPhone 7 could be adopting that feature. The report claims that Apple will introduce the Smart Connector on the back of the phone, although the placement on the back does seem to be rather odd unless Apple is planning some kind of dock-like accessory.

In addition, the report claims that the iPhone 7 will not be thinner than its predecessors which seems to contradict an earlier rumor. Apparently despite Apple reportedly ditching the headphone jack, the extra room will not be used for a stereo speaker so if you were hoping for that feature, you could be disappointed.

In any case rumors are rumors and should always be taken with a grain of salt. Assuming Apple keeps to schedule, the iPhone 7 will most likely be launched in the later part of the year, possibly around the September/October mark, so check back with us in the following months where hopefully more details will be revealed.
