Opera Mini Update On Windows Phone Not Expected In Near Future

opera_miniWell, this is far from surprising – we do know that the market share of Windows Phone over in the US has dropped significantly as reported in the middle of last year, which in the first place, the mobile operating itself already had a rather small market share compared to the two behemoths slugging it out – Android and iOS. Well, this bit of news that one should not expect an update for Opera Mini on the Windows Phone platform does sound about right, too.

In other words, we should be realistic about matters at hand, especially where the Windows Phone version of Opera Mini is concerned. Opera has shared earlier this Tuesday that the team which worked on the Windows Phone version of the Opera Mini browser will soon be “dedicating” their time not to Windows Phone, but to iOS and Android apps instead.

Ironically, handsets that ran on the Windows Mobile platform such as the HTC Touch Pro and HTC Touch Diamond were the ones that helped to propel Opera Mini into the limelight as a popular third-party browser, especially when said browser came pre-installed on those two pair of smartphones close to a decade ago. Ah well, all good things must come to an end eventually, right?
