Apple Reportedly Places Order For 72-78 Million iPhone 7 Units

iPhone6s-4Color-RedFish-PR-PRINTLast month during Apple’s latest financials reveal, the company announced what was the first time in their history that they ever experienced a drop in iPhone sales. To be fair they shouldn’t have been too surprised given that the smartphone market is pretty mature by now, and it was also predicted by analysts last year that this would happen.

However it seems that despite the drop, Apple is clearly still optimistic about its future because according to recent reports out of Taiwan, the Cupertino company has gone forward and placed 72-78 million orders for its iPhone 7. This is much more than what analysts had originally predicted, which is about 65 million iPhone 7 units shipped by the end of the year.

We’re not sure why and how Apple is so optimistic, especially since from what we are hearing, the upcoming iPhone 7 will not be too different from its predecessor. According to leaked images, the main difference in design would be the removal of the antenna bands across the back of the phone, and the inclusion of a dual lens setup for the iPhone 7 Plus.

There are also rumors of a 256GB model but we doubt that going to 256GB will see customers flocking to Apple’s doors. In any case for all we know, Apple’s sales figures could ultimately end up surprising us but for now, color us skeptical.
