Sony isn’t done releasing new TVs this year. The company today announced the launch of its Z Series 4K TVs which it calls the “ultimate 4K HDR Ultra HD TV.” Sony is taking 4K HDR to a new level with ultra-contrast, more realistic and accurate color, deeper blacks, brighter lights and more vibrant colors.

The Z Series comes with Sony’s Backlight Master Drive technology which the company introduced as a prototype at CES this year. This precision backlight boosting technology expands brightness and contrast to tap the full potential of 4K HDR. It features a dense LED structure with super accurate lighting algorithm, lighting control and a unique optical design with a calibrated beam LED.

Sony’s new series is powered by its new 4K Processor X1 Extreme that the company developed to provide the ultimate 4K HDR visual experience. It incorporates objected-based HDR remaster, dual database processing and Super Bit Mapping 4K HDR to take content to an entirely different level.

Android TV powers the smart TV platform in this series and provides users with access to a plethora of apps, games and services. There’s also support for Android TV’s voice search feature as well as Google Cast.

As you might have expected, the new Z Series is anything but cheap. The 64.5 and 74.5 inch models – XBR65Z9D and XBR75Z9D cost $6,999 and $9,999 respectively. Both models are available for pre-order today via Amazon, Best Buy and other retailers with shipments starting later this summer. Sony is going to announce the pricing and availability of the 100 inch XBR100Z9D Z Series TV at a later date.
