‘Industry Sources’ Claim The iPhone 7 Will Come With 3GB Of RAM

iphone_6s_2In terms of the number of cores, RAM, and camera megapixels, Apple has never really played that game unlike Android OEMs who try to outdo each other. This is why the iPhone is still running on a dual-core processor and still maintains a relatively low megapixel count compared to Android phones out there.

It is also why it was only with the iPhone 6s that Apple finally upgraded the RAM to 2GB, while Android phones these days are running as much as 6GB. However it looks like Apple plans on playing catchup because according to a new report from DigiTimes (via Pocketnow), they are claiming that industry sources in Taiwan have told them that this year’s iPhone could come with 3GB of RAM.

The report reads, “Increasing built-in memory capacity at next-generation smartphones, including new iPhone devices, will further ramp up demand for memory products in the third quarter, said sources, noting that the mobile DRAM capacity of the next-generation iPhone is expected to increase to 3GB from 2GB previously.”

DigiTimes doesn’t exactly have the best track record when it comes to reporting Apple rumors, but it should be pointed out that they aren’t alone in this line of thinking. Last month reports from analysts also suggested 3GB of RAM, but we guess we’ll have to wait until Apple officially unveils the device to find out if these rumors are true.
