Apparently Verizon has come up with an idea where they’ll install an app on a subscriber’s phone on behalf of a brand. They will then charge anywhere between $1-2 per install, meaning that if a million phones had the app installed, the company would have to pay Verizon $1 million to $2 million, and we are just talking about one app!
Imagine if multiple companies reached out to Verizon to get on board the deal, it would easily allowed the carrier to make tens of millions, although we’re guessing that this would result in millions of unhappy customers in the process, but according to the report, users are more than welcome to delete the app, so we guess at most it would be a bit of an inconvenience.
It is unclear as to how far along these discussions are with the various brands/companies, but Verizon has declined to comment on the report, but we’re hoping for the sake of Verizon customers that the plan does not come to fruition.
