VSCO Launches A Free-To-Use Photography Studio In NYC

vsco_open_studioIf you edit your photos while on the go, there’s a good chance you might have heard of (or even used) an app by the name of VSCO. It is one of the more popular photo editing apps around on smartphones and tablets, but it looks like the company has decided to expand beyond just apps, although they will still be in the photography game.

The company has recently announced that they will be launching a photography studio in New York City called VSCO Open Studio. The best part is that this studio is free-to-use, but photographers need to book it in advance and pay a $250 deposit which will be forfeited should they not cancel at least 72 hours beforehand.

According to them, “We know how expensive it is to rent studio space, and that it can be especially difficult to justify the price when it’s for your own passion project. But if it’s a project that excites you, that drags you out of bed at the crack of dawn and keeps you up late at night, we want to give you the opportunity to create it.”

However it should be noted that this studio is only free for non-commercial projects, meaning that if you’re a professional photographer looking to save money on renting a studio and equipment for a magazine shoot, sorry you’d be out of luck.
