FAA Issues Statement On Galaxy Note 7 On Flights

A couple of days ago, it was reported that the FAA was considering the idea of banning the Galaxy Note 7 on board flights in the US due to the phones being recalled for exploding batteries. Now it looks like the agency has come forward with an official statement on its website on the issue.

The statement reads, “In light of recent incidents and concerns raised by Samsung about its Galaxy Note 7 devices, the Federal Aviation Administration strongly advises passengers not to turn on or charge these devices on board aircraft and not to stow them in any checked baggage.”

If you’re wondering why this sounds familiar, it is because just yesterday we reported that several Australian airline companies have similarly asked passengers not to use or charge the phones while on board the plane. It doesn’t sound like a ban, but basically with reports of the phones exploding, it just makes sense not to use them while you’re mid-air.

Samsung has officially recalled the handsets and are offering customers full refunds or exchanges for either a new Galaxy Note 7, or other Samsung flagship handsets. If you haven’t done so already, maybe you should considering taking the phone in just to be safe.
