India Bans The Galaxy Note 7 From Check-In Bags

Unless you have not been following the news, chances are you might have heard that Samsung is experiencing quite a major PR nightmare with regards to the Galaxy Note 7 following multiple reports of the phone exploding due to faulty batteries, and it looks like things are getting worse for the company.

A report from The Times of India has revealed that the Indian government has banned the Galaxy Note 7 from check-in bags for flights, and that for those who own the handset, they are only allowed to keep them in their hand luggages and they must be switched off during the duration of the flight.

India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation is said to be in the process of informing Indian carriers about this new rule in the event that they are still unaware. India would essentially be the first country to officially ban the handset, whereas in other countries such as Australia and Canada, they have merely issued advisory warnings.

The FAA themselves have also warned passengers not to use or charge their phones during flights. Samsung has since officially recalled the handsets and are working to make it formal in the US with the CPSC, and are also rushing to get replacement handsets into the hands of customers as soon as possible.
