The capabilities of our smartphone’s camera is becoming one of the main priorities when choosing a smartphone these days. We’ve seen companies make some pretty big strides in that regard, and this year probably marks Apple’s biggest change to date. With the iPhone 7 Plus, Apple has introduced a dual camera system.

Naturally during the presentation Apple showed off some sample photos on stage which look great, and now thanks to photos published exclusively on Sports Illustrated by photographer David E. Klutho, we are treated to the first photo samples from the iPhone 7 Plus, and we have to say that we are impressed.

If we did not know any better, we would have easily assumed that the photo pictured above was taken by a professional DSLR camera. The images are crisp, the details in the images have been preserved (at least at this current size), the colors stand out, and everything is in focus. Granted a professional-grade DSLR might have yielded better results due to the photographer having greater control over certain aspects, but if anything this photo certainly shows how far smartphone camera technology has come.

However what we’re really curious about is the iPhone’s ability to capture images with bokeh like they advertised on stage. That particular feature is expected to arrive at a later date as a software update, but in the meantime what do you guys make of this photo?
