More Than 70 Galaxy Note 7s Have Exploded In The US

galaxy-note-7-design_06-black-backWhen Samsung officially announced the Galaxy Note 7’s recall, they claimed that at that point in time, they had received about 30 or see reports of the handset catching on fire/exploding. However it seems that the number is higher than what Samsung had initially reported because according to Health Canada (via SamMobile), that number is actually over 70.

Health Canada, for those unfamiliar, is Canada’s consumer safety agency and have been working with Samsung to help recall the Note 7 handsets in the country. In their report, they note that in the US there have actually been over 70 reported cases, meaning that from the time of the recall until Health Canada’s report, more phones have been reported to have exploded.

We guess this shouldn’t come as a surprise as following the recall, we have been reporting on several instances of the phone exploding, such as one instance where a jeep was allegedly set on fire due to the explosion, and how the phone exploded in the hands of a 6-year old boy causing burns in the process.

Samsung has been hard at work trying to recall their phones and expediting the replacement units. However in the meantime the company’s share prices have taken quite a beating due to the incident, but hopefully they’ll be able to recover in the coming months.
