2 People Injured After E-Cig Explodes On Harry Potter Ride

e-cigarettes_and_the_mediaAre e-cigarettes a “safer” alternative to regular cigarettes? Some studies seem to suggest that, but whether or not those studies are true, there is the question of its safety in the sense that at the heart of it, an e-cigarette is an electronic device that packs a battery. This means that it has the potential to explode if damaged or faulty.

We have seen instances in which e-cigarettes/vapes have exploded, and it looks like it has happened again. According to a report from the Orlando Sentinel (via Mashable), a man and a 14-year old girl were both injured when an e-cigarette belonging to the man exploded in his pocket.

The man suffered injuries to his left following the explosion, which apparently caused a small “fireball” that resulted in the 14-year old girl suffering from moderate burns to the right side of her face. She was sent to the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children following the incident, with the ride temporarily shutting down.

According to police Lt. Dan Brady, “It was just a weird, freak accident that unfortunately caused injuries to two people. It wasn’t a big explosion but was definitely enough to scare everyone who was in that cab of the train.” Yikes, kind of makes you think about the next time you put your e-cigarette in your mouth, doesn’t it?a
