LG Unveils Their New LG U Smartphone In Korea

The Nexus 5X made by LG never really quite got the same amount of attention and traction compared to the Nexus 6P. This is namely because compared to the Nexus 6P, the Nexus 5X wasn’t quite as powerful, although its more affordable price tag meant that if you didn’t want to spend so much money, you could still get a Nexus device.

That being said, it seems that LG has decided to rebrand the Nexus 5X and relaunch it in South Korea as the LG U (via PhoneArena). Note that this isn’t an official rebranding, it’s just that its specs are so similar to that of the Nexus 5X that they are practically the same device, save for some design and minor changes here and there.

For starters, the LG U packs a 5.2-inch Full HD display and comes with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. It also measures 147.6 x 73.2 x 7.7mm and weighs 135 grams, sound familiar yet? It is also powered by an octa-core processor clocked at 1.14GHz and packs a 3,000mAh battery. As for the camera department, we’re looking at an 8MP front-facing camera, and a 13MP rear-facing camera.

If there is one big difference, it would be that the LG U does not come with a fingerprint sensor. There’s a good chance we won’t see the phone launched outside of South Korea, especially when you consider the fact that it is launched on the company’s own carrier network, LG U+.
