Man Officially Changes His Name To ‘iPhone 7’ Just To Win An iPhone

iphone-7-manApple’s iPhones are some of the most coveted phones in the market at the moment. In the past we have heard stories of how people have sold body parts and even their virginity just to own an Apple product, so in terms of how far one could go to own an iPhone, we think that question has already been answered.

That doesn’t mean that we still don’t get surprised at the lengths people go to. It seems that over in the Ukraine, a certain 20-year old by the name of Olexander Turin officially changed his name to that of “iPhone 7” so that he could, ironically enough, win a competition that would give him an iPhone 7.

As PhoneArena points out, the iPhone 7 in Ukraine would have cost Turin $850, and considering that it costs him $2 just to change his name and given that it’s pretty much a painless process compared to cutting out a kidney, it almost makes sense. Unsurprisingly Turin’s family was shocked at the name change, although his sister does seem to be supportive of it.

According to his sister, Tetyana Panina, “It was difficult to accept that and hard to believe it’s true.. Each person in this world is looking for a way to express himself. Why not to do that in this way?” The good news is that Turin does not want his future kids to refer to him as iPhone 7 so he does plan on switching back to his birth name eventually.
