Note 7’s ‘Symmetrical’ Design Could Be Reason Behind Its Problems

With every new phone Samsung puts out, they also introduce a new design. With the Galaxy Note 7, Samsung introduced dual curved edges and also an absolute symmetrical design, which we guess from an aesthetics point of view is pretty snazzy, but apparently it could have been the reason behind the phone’s explosions.

According to an investigation, the design of the Note 7 makes it the narrowest Note phone ever designed by Samsung, as well as the narrowest phone with a 5.7-inch display. Apparently the points at which the phones meet at the narrowest have been pinching the batteries developed by Samsung SDI, thus causing them to explode as they were found to be a bit bigger than the batteries made by ATL.

However it should be noted that Samsung attempted to fix this in the first recall by replacing the Samsung SDI batteries with ATL’s batteries, so it is unclear as to what might have been causing the explosions in the new set of batteries. However it is still speculated that the symmetrical design could still be to blame, but other possibilities include Samsung rushing ATL for new batteries following the recall, which could have led to some defects that were overlooked/missed.

In any case this is just speculation for now as Samsung has yet to come forward with an official acknowledgement of the problem, although we’re not sure if the company ever plans on doing that, but either way production on the phone has been halted and it seems unlikely we’ll be seeing the Note 7 available on the shelves again.
