Apple Reportedly ‘Not Interested’ In Time Warner Acquisition

It has been rumored for the past couple of years that Apple is interested in acquiring Time Warner. The company hasn’t ever made a formal bid and it’s chances of making one now seem quite slim given that AT&T has agreed to acquire Time Warner for $84.5 billion. Recent reports suggested that a major investment bank was pushing Apple to consider making a bid but the latest from the street is that Apple is “not interested” in acquiring Time Warner.

Just because AT&T has announced that it has agreed to acquire Time Warner for $85.4 billion doesn’t mean the deal is done. It will take months for regulatory approvals to go through and until the ink is dry, any other company can make a competing bid and Time Warner being a publicly listed company has an obligation to its shareholders to consider competing bids.

According to the latest report, Apple is now interested in acquiring Time Warner at this point in time. The possibility isn’t being ruled out entirely, but Apple is said to be not interested in making a competing bid right now.

It may take up to a year for this deal between AT&T and Time Warner to go through so Apple has plenty of time on its hands to reconsider and make a bid. Whether or not it will do so is an entirely different matter. Apple recently hinted that it’s open to making strategic acquisitions of any size and it certainly has the cash on its hands to better the $85.4 billion that AT&T is offering.
