Huawei Wants To Dethrone Apple In The Next 1-2 Years

Huawei-Nova-11Back in the day, many would never consider buying brands like Xiaomi or Huawei or Oppo. Even in China customers seemingly preferred Apple’s products. However fast forward to today, those companies are on the rise thanks to their affordable smartphones that pack specs that can rival those of Samsung, HTC, LG, Apple, and other more “premium” brands.

So much so that at the moment, Huawei is currently ranked third as the world’s largest maker of smartphones, but that’s a place the company does not plan to stay for long. According to a report from Reuters, Huawei revealed their plans to eventually dethrone Apple’s place in the number 2 spot in the next 1-2 years.

According to Huawei’s CEO Richard Yu, “We are going to take them (Apple) step-by-step, innovation-by-innovation. There will be more opportunities. Artificial intelligence, virtual reality, augmented reality. It is like driving a car. At every curve or turn, there is an opportunity to overtake the competition.”

Samsung is currently holding onto the number 1 spot, but in certain markets, especially major up and coming markets like China, the company has already lost its spot to local companies like Xiaomi, so the idea of Huawei eventually overthrowing Apple and maybe even Samsung one day isn’t that much of a stretch.
