Note 7’s Software Being Rolled Out To The Note 5 In Korea

Samsung-Galaxy-Note-5-21With the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 having been officially discontinued, this means that users of last year’s Note 5 are left without a flagship phone for 2016. For those who are still holding onto the Note 5, the good news is that if you don’t plan to switching to the Galaxy S7/S7 Edge, Samsung has something for you.

According to reports, it seems that over in Korea, Samsung has started to roll out an update for the Note 5 in which brings some of the Note 7’s features onto the Note 5. In particular the Grace UX which made its debut in the Note 7 is now being rolled out to the Note 5. This includes new features like Game Tools, Blue Light Filter, Smart Manager, Wide Selfie, and Ultra Power Saving Mode.

Now obviously this won’t turn your Note 5 into a Note 7, but it should make your phone feel a bit new thanks to the smoother animations. It isn’t Android 7.0 Nougat either which we guess is a bit of a pity, but Note 5 users will probably have to wait if they want to get their hands on the Nougat update whose release date we cannot confirm yet. No word on when Samsung plans on pushing out this update to users outside of Korea yet either.
