China-based Yi, backed by Xiaomi, creates many smart and connected devices. The company is also in the business of making action cameras so it’s a direct competitor to GoPro. As is the case with most products coming out of China, they strive to offer similar or better functionality than their rivals at competitive price points. That’s how Yi’s action cameras are positioned against the ones from GoPro, Sony, and others. The company has now said that its new Yi action camera is going to be able to record video in 4K resolution at 60 frames-per-second.

There aren’t a lot of action cameras on the market right now that are capable of recording footage in 4K Ultra High Definition. Those that are capable of this usually cap the recording at 15-30FPS. Clearly, there’s some room for improvement here.

Users who want smoother footage have to scale down to 2.7K resolution in order to record video at 60FPS. Yi has now confirmed that it’s going to launch a new action camera at the Consumer Electronics Show 2017 in Las Vegas next month and that its new camera will shoot 4K video at 60FPS.

It will be called the Yi 4K+ and the action camera will be announced alongside the company’s new Erida drone. Yi says the drone is capable of reaching speeds of up to 75 miles per hour for up to 40 minutes. Pricing and availability information for both products will be confirmed at CES 2017.
