asus_zenfone_zoom[CES 2017] Back in 2015, ASUS launched the ZenFone Zoom smartphone. As its name implies, this is a smartphone where the focus is on the camera’s zoom capabilities where it had a 3x optical zoom. If you’re the type that loves zoom lenses and shooting long-distances, then this was the smartphone for you.

Fast forward to 2017, ASUS is back with the successor to the phone in the form of the ZenFone 3 Zoom. Unfortunately the 3x zoom is gone as ASUS has replaced it with a 2.3x zoom instead. However ASUS has also crammed a massive 5,000mAh battery into the ZenFone 3 Zoom, so if even if the zoom is less than before, the long battery life should make up for it. Alternatively if you don’t care about the zoom features and want a phone with a huge battery, this could be it.

ASUS has also included a dual-lens setup with the other lens being a 12MP wide-angle lens sporting an aperture of f/1.7. The goal is similar to other dual lens setups, which is to create a bokeh-like effect in photos. Other specs of the phone include a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED display and the use of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor.

As for pricing, ASUS said that they will reveal it at a later date, but given its specs we doubt it will be burning a hole in your wallet anytime soon. The ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom is also expected to be made available next month.
