Google Maps is a great tool to find out the best route to your destination. It provides you with the fastest route and can re-route you based on traffic conditions. Google continues to add more functionality to this service and the one it has launched now is going to make life a lot easier for a lot of people. Google Maps for Android is now able to predict just how hard it’s going to be for you to find parking at your destination.

It’s not uncommon for us to get late for an appointment even though we reach the destination on time just because we can’t find parking. Google aims to help us with that by enabling parking predictions in Google Maps.

This feature is currently live in 25 metro areas across the United States. Users in these areas will see a new parking difficulty icon in Google Maps for Android which will inform them just how hard or easy it’s going to be to find a spot.

The icon displays parking difficulty range from limited to medium to easy. These predictions are based on historical parking data, it’s the same technology that Google uses to calculate Visit Duration and Popular Times.

As previously mentioned, this feature is currently available in 25 metro areas across the United States which include San Francisco, Seattle, Miami, Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles, Minneapolis/St. Paul, New York City, Orlando, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, San Diego, St. Louis, Tampa, Washington, DC, Cleveland, Dallas/Fort Worth, Denver, Houston, Phoenix, Portland, and Sacramento.

Google is yet to confirm when this feature will be released on iOS.
