Apple Expected To Adopt New 3D Touch Tech For The iPhone 8

Apple’s 3D Touch feature sounds great on paper and it definitely has a lot potential. Unfortunately its execution has certainly left a lot to be desired and what was once a feature rumored to be copied by many other OEMs has ended up being something of a novelty. However Apple is expected to keep pushing forward.

According to a report from AppleInsider, they have obtained an investor’s note by KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo in which he suggested that Apple could be turning to new technology for 3D Touch on the upcoming iPhone 8. According to Kuo, he says that instead of flexible printed circuit boards, Apple might turn to the use of a thin film that is supposed to introduce enhanced sensitivity.

What this means is that technically it should enhance and improve the overall experience, as well as potentially opening the doors to allow users to perform more complex gestures, as opposed to the current system which is admittedly limiting. However this new film is said to be harder to manufacture and could ultimately cost Apple more in terms of materials, but whether or not this increase in cost will be passed down to customers remains to be seen.

So far all the rumors of the 2017 iPhone 8 are shaping up to be pretty wild. It sounds like what Apple is doing is a very huge departure from the previous few iPhones which will hopefully put a halt in the decline in iPhone sales.
