Gabe Newell Confirms Valve Is Working On New Single-Player Games

portal2-level-creatorAs you might recall, yesterday it was revealed that Valve’s co-founder and president Gabe Newell would be hosting a Reddit AMA. As expected the AMA was full of gamers who are asking Newell about the status of Half-Life 3, to which Newell responded by saying, “The number 3 must not be said.”

His response isn’t surprising but there is some good news. While we’re not sure what the state of Half-Life 3 is at the moment, Newell did confirm that Valve is working on new single-player games. In a question on Reddit that asked if Valve working on any full-fledged single player games, Newell answered in the affirmative with a simple, “Yes”.

There are no details as to what this might be, but if you are looking forward to playing new games from Valve, then this is good news. So far Valve has been pretty much riding on the success of its various multiplayer games such as CS:GO, DotA 2, and Team Fortress 2, just to name a few.

Some have also criticized Valve for concentrating more on becoming a distribution platform (through Steam) instead of developing more games, but hopefully these criticisms can be quelled when Valve does release whatever new game they could be working on.
