75 Million Copies of Grand Theft Auto V Have Been Shipped To Date

When it comes to successful video game franchises, it’s hard to deny that Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto is one of them. The game had initially started out as a top-down 2D almost 8-bit like game about stealing cars and completing missions, but it has over the years evolved into a beautiful 3D third-person game that is loved by many.

The latest installment in the franchise is Grand Theft Auto V that was released about 3 years ago, and according to Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two’s earnings, it seems that they have managed to ship a whopping 75 million copies of the game to date. Note that these are units shipped which aren’t necessarily representative of sales.

However consider that the game managed to earn Rockstar $1 billion within the first 3 days of it going on sale, it’s safe to say that the company has sold many copies and that it is a very, very successful title. We’re not sure what Rockstar has planned for the future of the Grand Theft Auto franchise, but right now with GTA Online, Rockstar is able to keep gamers interested and playing the game with constant updates, so maybe don’t hold your breath if you were hoping for a sequel anytime soon.
