DxOMark Will Now Start To Test Drone Cameras As Well

If you’re a geek when it comes to your cameras, DxOMark is usually a pretty good place to go for camera benchmarks. So far the website has benchmarked consumer cameras and smartphone cameras, but now it seems that they will also be benchmarking and testing out drone cameras as well.

According to the website, “As drone photography has increased in popularity, manufacturers have responded by creating a wide variety of offerings aimed to satisfy the demand. To help sort through available drones, we have evaluated the quality of photographs produced by some of the most popular.”

It actually makes a lot of sense because drones are currently seeing a surge in popularity, not just by hobbyists, but also by filmmakers who now have quick, easy, and potentially cheaper access to cameras in the sky to help them capture aerial footage that was not possible before, at least not if you’re working on a shoestring budget.

This means that when it comes to camera quality, drone makers definitely need to step things up, as well as cameras by camera makers that are designed for use with drones. Of course if you’re not a drone user then these benchmarks and tests probably don’t mean that much to you, but if you are shopping for a drone and camera quality is high on your list of priorities, then DxOMark could be worth checking out.
