iPhone 7 Is The Top-Selling Smartphone In The US, Europe, China

There have been many criticisms leveled at Apple and their iPhone 7 smartphones. After all this would mark the first time that Apple has stuck to a similar-ish design for three-generations worth of iPhones, leading many to call them “boring”. However despite that, there is still a certain level of appeal to them, which is why we’re not surprised at Kantar’s latest report.

According to a report from Kantar Worldpanel, they have found that based on smartphones sales around the world that Apple’s iPhone 7, despite being called boring, is doing quite well and is actually the top-selling smartphone in markets like the US, Europe, and urban China, or so they claim.

Based on their numbers, Apple’s iOS market share actually grew in some of those markets. For example in the US, the market share of iOS is at 42% which actually represents a 2.9% increase from the previous year at the same time which was at 39.1%. In Europe iOS also saw an increase in market share from 20.3% to 22.7%.

As for China, Kantar was careful to specify that they meant urban China in which the iPhone 7 is doing well. This is because in tier 2 and tier 3 cities which are more rural, Apple’s market share is being ceded to the likes of Android, and as an overall, Apple lost 8.4% of their market share in China. That being said, we have to wonder with this year’s iPhone predicted to launch another super cycle for Apple, how will those numbers look like?
