Game Of Thrones Season 8 Release Possibly Delayed

HBO decided to delay the release of Game of Thrones season 7 as the production schedule was tied to the winter season. Fans of the hit series are not going to like that the final season of the series, season 8, could see its release being delayed to 2019. HBO has previously confirmed that Game of Thrones season 8 is going to be the shortest season yet in the series.

HBO confirmed recently that Game of Thrones season 8 will be the shortest season yet. It’s only going to have six episodes which means that the season will be wrapped up quickly.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, HBO programming head Casey Bloys dropped a hint which suggested that the eighth season could be delayed to 2018. He was asked why showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss were not going to be involved with the planned spinoff series in a big way.

“By the time the final season airs, Dan and David will have been at this for 12 years,” he said. The interviewer felt that the math was a bit off seeing that production on the first season didn’t begin until October 2009. “So as of now, the final season could air in 2018 and / or in 2019 depending on their needs?” Bloys was asked.

He replied that it’s up to the showrunners to write the episodes and figure out the production schedule, which suggests that HBO is giving them the freedom to take their time with the final season. If that is the case, it may very well be delayed to 2019.
