iPhone 8 Could Come With 10W USB-C Wall Charger

It’s interesting that despite Apple clearly seeing that USB-C is the future in terms of ports and connectivity, and going all USB-C on their MacBook laptops, the company’s other products such as the iPhone still relies on a USB-A to Lightning connector, but apparently that will change with the iPhone 8.

According to Barclays analyst Blayne Curtis in a research note, he claims that Apple’s rumored iPhone 8 is expected to come with a new faster 10W USB-C wall charger. This means that it should allow the iPhone to charge up considerably faster than before, not to mention the USB-C connectivity probably also means we’re looking at a bundled USB-C to Lightning connector that should solve some dongle woes that newer MacBook owners are facing.

As it stands the current iPhone charger is of the 5W variety, although it is pretty common to see iPhone users use their iPad’s 12W power adapter to charge their phones which has proven in the past to be faster as well, so it remains to be seen if this new alleged USB-C wall charger will be able to perform better.

In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but we should have the official details in the coming months, assuming that Apple is keeping to schedule.
