Alexa Can Now Stream Music Suited To Specific Activities

If you’ve ever wanted to listen to music while meditating but haven’t been sure where to start, Alexa is going to take care of that for you now. Amazon has updated its digital personal assistant with the ability to stream music from Amazon Music for specific activities. For example, you can ask Alexa to play music for meditation or for running and it’s going to oblige.

This functionality will only work with Amazon Music, though, so you need to be using Amazon’s own music streaming service. It won’t work with other streaming services that are supported by Alexa for conventional streaming.

Amazon says that this update enables Alexa to play music specific to more than 500 activities. This includes working out, meditating, falling asleep and even some exciting activities like “hooking up,” or “music for making babies.” Yes, those are actual activities that Amazon has defined.

Alexa can also take requests for specific genres related to activities so if you want to hear classical music while working out, you just need to ask Alexa and it’s going to play some classical music for you.

Just be sure to use Amazon Music. This latest Alexa feature is not going to work without it.
