Amazon Stops Selling The Fire TV

Amazon has now stopped selling its Fire TV set-top box. The move comes amid rumors that the company is going to launch new Fire TV devices in the near future. You can head over to the dedicated landing page for the product right now but you won’t be able to buy it. The Fire TV is listed as “currently unavailable.”

The online retail giant also provides no date of when the Fire TV set-top box will be back in stock. Customers can purchase a refurbished version of the Fire TV but they’re out of luck if they want a brand new Fire TV straight from Amazon.

The Fire TV has also been removed from the carousel in the Fire TV page which is yet another indication that a new Fire TV set-top box is just around the corner.

It was reported last week that Amazon has two new Fire TV devices in the pipeline. One of the new devices is said to be an HDMI dongle that works much like the Fire TV streaming stick. The second is a proper Fire TV set-top box with Alexa baked in.

Both new devices are said to have support for 4K and HDR. The stick is reportedly going to have 2GB of RAM and 8GB of storage. It’s expected to cost between $60 and $80.

Now that it has stopped selling the Fire TV set-top box, it’s quite possible that Amazon will unveil the new products in the very near future.
