Android One Moto X4 Officially Launched

It was reported recently that an Android One version of the Moto X4 could be launched soon. The reports have turned out to be true. The Android One Moto X4 has been launched on Project Fi, Google’s prepaid carrier. Project Fi customers now have access to a cheaper device as the only phones available until recently that were compatible on Fi were the Google Pixel and Pixel XL.

The Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P were compatible with Project Fi but they’re no longer being sold. This meant that anyone switching to Project Fi had to buy a Pixel which was more expensive. You can bring your own device to Project Fi since it relies on special software that handles network switching.

All of the specifications of this handset are similar to the Moto X4 that’s already available. The only major difference is that this is an Android One device, meaning that it runs on stock Android with no bloatware.

Google confirms that this handset will receive Android 8.0 Oreo by the end of this year. It adds that the Android One Moto X4 will be “among the first to receive an upgrade to Android P.”

Project Fi customers can purchase the Moto X4 for $399. They can trade-in an old Nexus device and get up to $165 as trade-in value. Customers who trade-in a device before October 5th will also receive $50 in Fi credit.

Offered in Super Black and Sterling Blue, the Android One Moto X4 is now available for pre-order on the Project Fi website.
