Galaxy S8 Oreo Beta Program Possibly Being Prepared

Google released Android 8.0 Oreo not too long ago. However, it’s going to be a while before third-party devices get it. It was reported recently that Samsung has started development on the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. If a new report is believed, the company might launch a beta program for the new firmware soon.

Samsung did run a beta program for the Nougat update last year for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. It won’t be surprising if it decides to do the same for this year’s flagship smartphones as well.

Newer Oreo firmware versions for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ have been spotted, G950FXXE1ZQI7 and G955FXXU1ZQI7 respectively, and SamMobile reports that the “Z” in the firmware version corresponds with its beta status. This was also spotted on the Nougat beta releases last year.

No further information is available at this point in time so it’s too soon to speculate about when the Galaxy S8 Oreo beta program might go live and the markets where it might be offered.

The recently released Galaxy Note 8 is due to receive Android 8.0 Oreo as well so it remains to be seen if the Galaxy Note 8 will be included in the beta program as well. We’ll update you once there’s more information about this.
