However this typically involved customers having to physically visit an Apple Store, but that has changed. As spotted by a MacRumors forum member (via AppleInsider), it seems that Apple has added a new option for customers in the program in the form of a mail-in option. What this means is that customers will be able to mail-in their old iPhone and trade that in for the newer models.
Customers will be given a trade-in kit which includes a box for the old iPhone, as well as a prepaid shipping label where they will send their old phones back to Apple for processing. Hopefully this will be a better solution than last year, where customers had to schedule trade-in appointments, and where supply issues with the iPhone 7 resulted in customers part of the program being unable to get their hands on the newer models.
That being said, there have been reports that claim that Apple’s new iPhone X could be delayed and might not be shipped alongside the standard models. We’re not sure if Apple is setting aside more units for customers in its trade-in program, but we guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
