iPhone Upgrade Program Members Offered ‘Head Start’ On iPhone X Upgrade

Pre-orders for Apple’s new flagship smartphone will finally be live later this month. Apple is going to start taking pre-orders for the iPhone starting October 27th. The company is offering a “head start” to those who are already members of its iPhone Upgrade Program. Apple says that they will be able to speed through checkout on October 27th if they have decided to upgrade to the iPhone X.

The iPhone X is expected to be sold out shortly after pre-orders go live. That’s because it’s believed that the handset will be in limited supply at launch. The supply issues aren’t expected to be resolved well into the first quarter of next year, according to some reports.

Apple is informing iPhone Upgrade Program members that they can “get a head start on your upgrade to iPhone X” starting October 23rd. “Use the Apple Store app on your iPhone to get ready for pre-order so you can speed through checkout on 10.27,” it tells them.

They aren’t been guaranteed launch day inventory. The process is just going to help members complete the loan eligibility process via Apple before the pre-orders are officially opened. This is just going to eliminate the few steps for iPhone Upgrade Program members on October 27th.

They will thus be able to complete the transaction in the shortest time possible. Whether or not they will be able to secure a unit for delivery on the release date is another matter entirely.
