iPhone X Drop Tests Makes You Want To Invest In A Case

Without a doubt Apple’s decision to give the iPhone X a completely new design is one that is welcome by many fans, at least judging by the alleged number of pre-orders Apple received within the first few days. However it seems that when creating a product, there needs to be consideration of form and function, but Apple appears to have favored the former.

In a drop test video of the iPhone X, it seems that the iPhone X could prove to be Apple’s most fragile iPhone to date. Now we have to say that dropping a smartphone or any device that is covered by glass on the front and back is obvious a recipe for disaster, but the damage we’re seeing to the iPhone X from a few drops has us a bit worried and will also want to make you invest in a protective case for the phone, should you decide to get it.

In the test above conducted by SquareTrade, it shows that the iPhone X when dropped face down shatters the screen completely, and renders it along with the Face ID feature unresponsive. However given that the TrueDepth cameras are situated in the front, we guess this shouldn’t surprising. In any case spoiler alert: the iPhone X does not fare too well when dropped.

According to Jason Siciliano, vice president global creative director at SquareTrade, “Despite Apple’s claims that their glass is the most durable ever in a smartphone, the iPhone X is the most breakable iPhone we’ve ever tested. The iPhone X’s fragility, along with Apple’s $549 fee for most repairs, make it the definition a high-risk phone.” Something to think about if you’re planning on dropping $999 for Apple’s latest flagship.
