Users Reporting iPhone X Becomes Unresponsive In Cold Weather

We all know that exposing your phone to too much heat is not good, which is why it is usually recommended that when you charge your phone that you not cover it to allow the heat to escape. However the reverse is also true, in which exposing your phone to extreme cold can also cause it to stop functioning.

This is something that some iPhone X users are discovering when in cold weather, they are finding that their iPhone X has become unresponsive. However the good news is that Apple has since acknowledged the issue and in a statement provided to The Loop, the company promises that this will be fixed with a software update.

According to an Apple spokesperson, “We are aware of instances where the iPhone X screen will become temporarily unresponsive to touch after a rapid change to a cold environment. After several seconds the screen will become fully responsive again. This will be addressed in an upcoming software update.”

As AppleInsider points out, this can be particularly troublesome as the iPhone X has seen Apple ditch the home button. This means should the iPhone X become unresponsive, there will not be a physical button for users to fall back on. There is no word on when this particular update will be released, but hopefully it will be soon. In the meantime Apple has released iOS 11.1.1 which has addressed several bugs within iOS.
