‘Marvel Heroes’ Players Demanding Refunds For In-Game Purchases

Recently Disney had announced that they would be parting ways with Gazillion Entertainment, which in turn meant that the free-to-play title “Marvel Heroes” would be shutting down by the end of the year. However it seems that players aren’t too thrilled by it and are now demanding that their in-game purchases be refunded.

The game was initially released on the PC back in 2013, but it was only earlier this year that the developer managed to port it onto the Xbox One and the PS4, meaning that gamers on the console are only getting less than a year to play the game, many of whom have since spent money purchasing items in the game and feel that they aren’t getting their money’s worth.

For those unfamiliar, Marvel Heroes comes with a few heroes unlocked and available to all, but additional heroes have to be purchased at around $5 each. Additionally gamers can purchase costumes for these heroes, which means more real-life money spent, so as you can imagine console players are pretty peeved that some of them have forked out so much money for a game that they can enjoy for less than a year.

When the announcement was made that the game was shutting down, Gazillion had stated that they would be removing in-game purchases, but unfortunately it has done little to quell the anger of some. As Kotaku points out, the game’s terms of service says that the developers owes its users nothing, meaning that legally they don’t have to refund players. Whether or not they will out of good faith remains to be seen.
