Pixel 2 XL Owners Reporting Unresponsive Display Near The Edges

It is unfortunate that while Google’s Pixel 2 handsets have received some pretty great reviews, especially in the camera department, that every week we are hearing about different software and hardware issues plaguing the handsets. This week is no different because according to several user complaints, the Pixel 2 XL’s screen is having some problems.

According to the reports, some of which can be found in the Pixel User Community, the edges of the display are unresponsive to touch. One user claims that sliding his finger along the side of the screen worked as expected, but tapping the edge was a different story, which you can see in the video above.

Thankfully though this appears to be a software issue and not a hardware one, meaning that if this isn’t bothering you too much, or if you didn’t even notice it, not to worry as Google has announced that they are aware of the problem and will be issuing a fix in a future OTA update. This is according to Google Community Manager Orrin who wrote, “Thanks for all the reports here, and to those that sent up additional info. The team has been investigating, and this will be addressed in a future OTA update.”

It is unclear if this is a widespread problem, but if you want to see if your handset is affected you can download the Display Tester app and try it on your Pixel 2 XL handset. No word on when this update will be issued, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more information.
