Nintendo Switch Seems To Be Doing Very Well In Japan

While Japan is yet to warm up to Microsoft’s gaming console, it appears to have fallen in love with the Nintendo Switch. The console has been performing very well in the country. It had a solid Christmas week which has pushed the overall sales figures for the console in Japan to over three million. Nintendo has sold more than three million units of the Switch in Japan.

The latest figures from Media Create reveal that Nintendo crossed the three million mark for Switch sales in Japan as of December 24th. It’s estimated to have sold 269,684 units of the Switch between December 18th and December 24th. The strong performance over Christmas week helped it reach a grand total of 3,178,100 units in Japan.

Nintendo has been able to achieve this milestone merely ten months after the console was released in the country. The Nintendo Switch was released in Japan on March 3rd, 2017.

The numbers could have been higher if the Switch hadn’t been in short supply for months. Fortunately, the demand doesn’t seem to be dying down anytime soon. It’s expected that Nintendo will see particularly strong demand for its console in Japan well into January 2018.

The Nintendo Switch has performed well in other markets as well. Nintendo confirmed earlier this month that it has sold ten million units of the Switch as of December 12th. It goes without saying that the figure has only increased since then.
