Samsung Galaxy S8, S8+ Android Oreo Beta Ending 26th January

Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ owners are probably aware that the Android 8.0 Oreo update is currently in beta testing. Last we heard, the update was planned for a release by the end of January following the conclusion of the beta, which Samsung had optimistically aimed for January as well.

The good news is that it looks like we could be getting closer to its release. According to a report from Droid-Life, Samsung has sent out notifications to its Android Oreo beta testers informing them that the beta will officially be concluded on the 26th of January (which is tomorrow).

However we should point out that this does not necessarily guarantee that the update will be released in the next week or so. This is because while it is safe to assume that Samsung believes that the update is ready to go following the extensive beta tests, that there could be several other factors regarding its release date.

Perhaps those who have the unlocked variants of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ might receive it first, followed by those who are locked to carriers who might need to approve the update before its release. Either way we’ll have to keep our eyes and ears peeled, so check back with us soon for more updates.
