LG Reportedly Planning On Rebranding Its G-Series Of Smartphones

Word on the street is that LG is planning on launching a new phone early this year. Given LG’s past, it’s safe to say that it could be the LG G7 which we have been hearing about, but now a new report is claiming that maybe it won’t be the LG G7 after all. This is because according to a report out of Korea, LG is reportedly planning on rebranding its G-series of smartphones.

LG has been using the G-series for its flagship smartphones for the past few years, but apparently there are plans to retire the series in favor of something new. This was said to be revealed by an LG official who was quoted by local publication, Digital Daily where they were quoted as saying, “LG is preparing a new brand strategy for the G series in the first half of the year. Numbering the phone with a two-digit number and rebranding the phone with a new name are some of the options on the table.”

LG has also confirmed that this is something they’re working on, but it seems that a final name has yet to be decided upon. In a statement to The Investor, “Rebranding flagship models is nothing new, and Samsung and Apple have done so for their own flagships.” It does seem a bit late to not have decided on a name considering that the LG G7 (or whatever it will be called) is expected to debut at CES 2018 or maybe at MWC. In any case we guess only time will tell, and also tell whether or not this will have an impact on the handset’s sales.
