‘Brand New Version’ Of Google+ For Android In The Works

While Google might have attempted their own social networking platform with Google+, it’s safe to say that things on the Google+ front have been somewhat quiet. However this isn’t to say that Google has given up on it or forgotten about it. In fact it seems that there could be a new version of the Google+ Android app in the works.

In a post by Leo Deegan (via Android Police), the engineering manager for Google+, he has revealed that the company is working on a “brand new version” of Google+ for Android. “Hey folks, over the next several days, we’ll be enabling a brand new version of the G+ Android app. Though it very closely resembles the current app, this new version is the culmination of a complete rewrite of many core features using Google’s latest Android app infrastructure which will allow our Android team to build new features on a modern tech stack.”

It is unclear as to what the main changes or differences will be, but overall it seems that the app has been improved upon in terms of its performance, such as featuring better stream rendering, better scrolling, a redesigned lightbox and comments option, and so on. However Deegan does note that since this is a rewrite of the original app, there might be some issues that have yet to be ironed out.
