Snap’s CEO Defends New Snapchat Design, Old Design Not Returning

snapchat uploadWhen it was announced that Snapchat would be getting a new design, it sounded like good news since the original design was found to be confusing as it did not exactly follow the traditional UI that most people are accustomed to as far as messenger apps are concerned. However it seems that the new design was not met with resounding applause.

However despite the negative feedback that Snap has received, it seems that they are pretty steadfast in their decision. Speaking at the Goldman Sachs Internet & Technology Conference, Snap’s CEO Evan Spiegel defended the new design, claiming that the complaints they’ve received so far only “reinforces the philosophy”.

According to Spiegel, “The tech is an important piece but I think the harder part you can’t get around is the time it takes to learn. You do need folks to use the product, to communicate with their friends to learn how to better provide that feed.” He adds, “Even the frustrations we’re seeing really validate those changes. It’ll take time for people to adjust, but for me using it for a couple months I feel way more attached to the service.”

It was also suggested that the old design will not be returning, despite the fact that a petition was launched which has since garnered over 1.2 million signatures.
