iPhone SE 2 May Be Manufactured Exclusively In India

There have been some reports recently suggesting that Apple is going to release an iPhone SE 2 later this year. There’s no concrete evidence available so far to support the theory and many still believe that reports about this handset are incorrect. If you’re in the former camp then you’d probably place your faith in the latest iPhone SE 2 report which claims that this handset will be manufactured exclusively in India.

A new report claims that the new iPhone SE is going to be manufactured and assembled exclusively in India. It’s not impossible for this to happen as Apple started manufacturing iPhones in India last year, however, only a certain percentage of all iPhone SE units are manufactured there. Most of the manufacturing is still done in China.

Just because it’s possible that this could happen doesn’t mean it would. Apple only makes the iPhone SE in India because the country imposes import tariffs on such devices. It wanted to compete in the local market on price and could only do that when its affordable model was being locally produced.

It wouldn’t make much sense for Apple to manufacture the iPhone SE 2 in India only and then export it to other markets particularly when its Chinese partners can do that more efficiently in their existing facilities in the People’s Republic where the bulk of Apple’s products are already produced.

So it would probably be best to take reports about the iPhone SE 2 with a heavy dose of salt until there’s more to go on.
