Apple’s iPhone SE is meant to be a cheaper alternative to the company’s flagship handsets. It is currently priced at $400 which while cheaper, isn’t exactly cheap per se, especially when you have phones from Xiaomi, Poco, and Samsung that are priced below that, but apparently that’s something the iPhone SE 5G could address.

According to a report from Investor’s Business Daily, they cite Loop Capital Markets analyst John Donovan who claims to have heard rumors that the 2022 iPhone SE could be priced as low as $300, making it almost $100 cheaper compared to the previous-gen model. Plus, the rumors claiming that the 2022 iPhone SE could come with 5G makes it an incredible bargain if it’s true.

While it is still more expensive compared to other budget brands out there, it could still prove to be enticing enough to make some customers switch over from Android, especially if price was one of the main reasons holding them back over the years from getting an iPhone. Of course, these are just rumors so take it with a grain of salt for now.

For all we know, Apple could possibly maintain the $399 price tag, or given the rumored upgrades could actually end up pricing it higher, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
